11.20 - Wii Were Impressed, But Lazy .comments.

“You ready bitch?”

That was the beginning of a conversation I had at 3 am last night. My buddy has just bought a Nintendo Wii and wanted a few of us to come over to play it. For anyone who doesn’t know what a Wii is, just google it because it is really hard to explain… it is a new video game system where you control the on screen actions with your movements, not a typical controller.

He just had sports games, baseball, tennis, bowling, boxing and golf… all which involved movements to have reactions on the screen. I have to say it is so easy to pick up, with everyone mastering the controls in a few minutes. However, the longer you play the more you wish you had a normal controller.

First the screen doesn’t really react to many movements, and being a taller guy compared to the height of the tv I couldn’t play golf because my swing was out of focus. Also there were many problems with the game registering what we were doing. But overall it was an extremely fun experience… however it really made me want to get back to my xbox 360.

I think people play videogames because they don’t have to be active. Almost all the time I’ve played videogames in my life it has been on a couch, eating or being high. I couldn’t see myself jumping around the room with these controllers when I was high or tired. I think I just enjoy the relaxing aspect of being able to sit down and chill with your friends.

While the Wii is fun, I just can’t see myself playing over an hour of football where I have to throw every pass and jump for every catch. So I’ll stick with my lazy video games for now.

11.16 - Podcasts The New Media .comments.

Over the past few months since I came to school I’ve fallen in love with podcasts. I am signed up for 6, some which update daily and others which update weekly. From the Sherdog radio network, to Small Man R. underground music… many of which are over an hour long with video.

I was sitting back, listening to the podcasts tonight while writing this essay. I’ve come to the conclusion podcasts have become on demand news for specific topics. Topics which could have never made it on t.v. or traditional radio have a place to find a substantial audience on the internet. One day there will be no difference between blogging and podcasting I don’t think. While it is nice to post a blog the format is restrictive I find.

I started to think… how can you make money off a podcast?

I know it gives information about products and there is the ability to have commercials to generate revenue. But with such a unique for my media it is weird that only traditional forms of advertising. I think when someone finally finds a new way to market podcasts it will be a huge money maker.

I've decided to write a paper on this topic, if anyone has any ideas how they could make money send me a line on msn.

Currently listening to: Aiden - Rain In Hell

11.13 - Welcome Back .comments.

It's been a while. Truthfully I didn't miss blogging one bit. I left and never looked back, however for better or worse I am back to say I have returned.

I don't know why I just stopped blogging, I think it was a mix of school and my growing hate for the internet in general. Over the past few weeks my computer reminds me of things which I just don't want to deal with. Mainly applying for grad schools, writing an essay and sending half assed emails to a close friend who will remain nameless.

I've been swamped this year, my courses are busting my balls for more work then I have time for. On top of this I have to mentor all these students which adds a layer of stress I just could do without sometimes.

Also I don't really like the look of my new blog... I did a lot when I first started it but everytime I came to check up to make sure everything with still ok with it the layout was just boring to me. I might change the template again, but knowing how much of a pain in the ass this one was I expect to have it for a while longer.

Thinking I might move my blog over to absolutepunk.net considering I have blog space there I have yet to use. Plus it would be good for my band and most of my friends have blogs and profiles for the website. Problem is I wouldn't expect my friends who read this one to sign up for an account, so I am torn to what to do with that.

All and all it feels good to be back and posting again.

Wanted to also tell everyone, look out to bands being signed to Small Man Records, a band we toured with and love D.E.A. will be signing with them in the near future.

On a seperate note Mat download Say Anything - ... Is A Real Boy, Was A Real Boy
